The Office of Admissions and Sterling College Online both have new staff this month. Kaylee Beutler ’14 joined admissions in late August as the visit experience coordinator, and Will Lewis joined SCO as an admissions counselor.

Beutler will plan and execute campus visit events, such as Preview Weekends, and assist Mackenzie McGuire ’14 in planning personal campus visits. She will also work with Carrie McGlynn, admissions counselor, in recruiting science-oriented students.

The inaugural Ross and Fern Freeman Lecture Series speaker, Ken Blanchard, will appear on Wednesday, Sept. 17, at 10 a.m. in Culbertson Auditorium on the campus of Sterling College. Focusing on servant leadership, Blanchard will address students, employees and guests of the College. Fans at Warrior Fest noticed several upgrades to the Warrior athletic facilities over the summer, most notably to Smisor Stadium. The moment they entered the field from the south entrance, they noticed the new state-of-the-art scoreboard on the south side of the football field. The new scoreboard features an LED display and a video screen for graphics and announcements, allowing fans to see information and statistics during athletic events.

Professor Emeritus of British Literature Dr. Craig Arlen Gannon, 75, of McPherson, Kan., passed away on Sunday, Aug. 24, 2014 in Wichita, Kan. Gannon taught British literature and the honors section of freshman composition for many years. He and his wife, Judi, also took students to England for a Literary London course where students visited historical landmarks such as Shakespeare’s birthplace, C.S. Lewis’ writing desk and Jane Austen’s home.
