Sterling College will welcome Mark Schupbach, retired businessman and lay Bible leader, on Friday, September 22, 2023, for the fall Ross and Fern Freeman Lecture Series for Servant Leadership. The Freeman Lecture Series speaker will deliver his message at 10 a.m. in Culbertson Auditorium in Spencer Hall on the campus of Sterling College. The public is welcome to attend this free event.

Katie Petersen, Sterling College’s assistant professor of fine arts and design, has been awarded the opportunity to participate and experience a one-of-a-kind artist residency at the esteemed Arteles Creative Center in Haukijärvi, Finland. The artist residency program is called Silence Awareness, Existence.
The first convocation of the Sterling College academic year took place on Aug. 18, in Culbertson Auditorium in Spencer Hall.

The first convocation of the Sterling College academic year took place on Aug. 18, in Culbertson Auditorium in Spencer Hall. Keynote speaker Dr. Glenn Butner, associate professor of theology and ministry, delivered his speech “Christian Education in the World of AI” as students and employees gathered to celebrate the start of classes.
Butner has served as a faculty member at Sterling College since 2016. He also serves as director of the honors program at Sterling.
Sterling College welcomed seven new faculty members to campus for the fall semester. Classes begin on Wednesday, August 16.

Sterling College honored Doug Boardman, associate professor of history, awarding him faculty emeritus status at the College’s Commencement ceremonies on Saturday, May 6, 2023. Boardman now carries the title of Professor Emeritus of History at Sterling College.

Dr. Nicole Glasgow, assistant professor of athletic training at Sterling College, was given The William M. McCreery Teaching Award as part of the College’s Commencement ceremonies on Saturday, May 6, 2023. The award recognizes and encourages excellence in teaching and is presented to a faculty member whose efforts have provided noteworthy and innovative instruction to Sterling College students during the academic year. The award was established in honor of Sterling College’s fourth president, William M.

With years of hard work and service behind them, Sterling College seniors Taya Wilson of Sterling, Kan., and Tanner Albright of Kingman, Kan., were named the 2023 Outstanding Female and Male Graduates in conjunction with the Fran Jabara Leadership Award.
The awards are given to two students who exemplify outstanding academic achievement, leadership skills and involvement, and who portray an enthusiastically Christian faith. They must have a cumulative GPA of 3.4 or higher and are voted upon by faculty and staff.

Friends and family gathered in the Gleason Center at Sterling College on Saturday morning, May 6, 2023, to celebrate the achievements of 103 graduates. The City of McPherson Pipe Band led the procession, and speaker, Don Reed ’68, CEO of Last Act of Stewardship Services, gave a speech titled “Watch Over Your Heart.” The Class of 2023 were honored as part of this year’s program. The presentation of degrees followed with students walking the stage and shaking hands with President Scott Rich, completing their time at Sterling.
