Sterling College will host Oklahoma’s current state Poet Laureate, Dr. Benjamin Myers, for a poetry reading on Wednesday, Sept. 23, at 4 p.m. in Cornerstone in the Student Union.
“We are honored to have Dr. Myers here on campus for this special event. Dr. Myers continues to influence others through his intricate narrative poems that explore life in Oklahoma. He is a gifted teacher whose award-winning work will inspire both our students and the larger community,” said Aaron Brown, assistant professor of writing and editing.
Sterling College was named as one of the 50 Most Affordable Christian Colleges and Universities for 2015-16.

Sterling College was named by Christian Universities Online as one of the 50 Most Affordable Christian Colleges and Universities for 2015-16. This is Sterling’s second year on the list, making a jump of 11 places to 18th. The list is based on net price tuition data for schools accredited by the Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools, the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities, or the Association of Christian Schools International.
Welcoming two highly published authors, the Santa Fe Trail Children’s Literature Festival will take place Thursday, Sept. 17, at Sterling College.

Welcoming two highly published authors, the Santa Fe Trail Children’s Literature Festival will take place Thursday, Sept. 17, at Sterling College. Author and illustrator Cheryl Harness and author David L. Harrison will speak to kindergarten through eighth grade students about writing and the creative process. There are currently over 1,400 students scheduled to attend the event.
Sterling College has moved up the list seven places from last year.

U.S. News & World Report awarded Sterling College its highest ranking this year at 60th Best Regional Colleges: Midwest. With increased scores in peer assessment, average freshmen retention rate, and graduation rate, the College has moved up the list seven places from last year.
The Sterling College theatre season begins tonight, with “The Foreigner,” directed by Kacie Hastings.

Opening with an award-winning comedy, the Sterling College theatre season begins on Thursday, Sept. 10, with “The Foreigner,” directed by Kacie Hastings. Seven Sterling students will take the stage at 8 p.m. in Culbertson Auditorium in Spencer Hall to perform the play written by Larry Shue.
Once again, The Princeton Review has named Sterling College to the Best Regional Colleges: Midwestern list for 2016.

Students at Sterling College are always excited to find mail from home in their campus mailboxes. The man delivering that mail, Brian Foster ’75, was honored for 10 years of service to the College. During his ten years, he has processed 953,440 pieces of outgoing mail and has sent and received thousands of packages. Foster sends and receives packages for Sterling from the United States Postal Service, United Parcel Service, FedEx Express, FedEx Ground and DHL, receiving an average of 300 packages per week. He also manages two student workers.

Sterling College graduates who want to become Certified Public Accountants in Kansas have a new graduate opportunity. The College has signed an articulation agreement with Emporia State University offering automatic acceptance of Sterling accounting students who meet the requirements of the agreement.

Sterling College announced a partnership with YouVisit, a leader in the field of virtual campus tours. Prospective students and families can now take a virtual campus tour from home. The new Sterling College campus tour site includes 15 stops around campus where visitors will be able to hear a short description of each location, watch videos, view photos and browse particular spaces with a 360-degree view.
