As the academic year wraps up at Sterling College, students in Play Directing will produce the annual one-act plays. Running May 1-2 at 8 p.m. in Culbertson Auditorium, both nights of performances will be the same. The public is invited to attend this free event.
This year’s directors include Demi Brummer of Hutchinson, Kansas; Elijah Klein of Valley Center, Kansas; Suz Melton of Smithville, Missouri; Kaitlin Nachtigal of Hutchinson, Kansas; and Kayla Van Nover of Wichita, Kansas.

A unique opportunity to hear John Jacobson, a firearms examiner from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, will take place on Friday, April 24, at 7 p.m. in Heritage Hall of Cooper Hall on the campus of Sterling College. He has over 25 years of experience in law enforcement, several of those spent in forensics. The public is invited to hear his Friday evening presentation, “A Case Study: Accident or Murder? You Decide.”
The Sterling College Concert Choir, Chorale and Highland Singers will hold their final concert of the season on Sunday, May 3.

The Sterling College Concert Choir, Chorale and Highland Singers will hold their final concert of the season on Sunday, May 3, at 3 p.m. at the Sterling First United Methodist Church. The Masterworks Concert will feature the compositional work of Dr. Brad Nix with three additional works featuring a vocal performance by Dr. Laura Bateman.
Sterling College Senior Shelby Huber added three awards to her resume on Sunday.

Sterling College Senior Shelby Huber added three awards to her resume on Sunday at the Rice County Arts Council’s 41st annual Prairie Art Exhibition. Chosen from a selection of 78 pieces, Huber’s oil painting “Enervated” was named Best of Show and the Patrons Choice Award. Her second oil painting, “Sean,” was given a Merit Award. Huber, of McPherson, Kansas, will graduate in May with a bachelor’s degree in art and design with concentrations in drawing and painting, graphic design, illustration and studio art.
The musical comedy will run April 16-18, with the box office opening at 7 p.m. and doors opening at 7:30 p.m.

The musical comedy will run April 16-18, with the box office opening at 7 p.m. and doors opening at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children, students and seniors.

Four Sterling College seniors will exhibit their final collection of work as college students in a group show titled “Communitas,” opening April 23. Hannah Gardner, Cody Green, Shelby Huber and Stephen Newby will hold a reception from 5-7 p.m. in the gallery of the Art and Media Center where their work will be displayed until May 16. The Art and Media Center is located at the corner of 8th Street and Washington Street.
In order to accomplish the day of service, the groups of college students are looking for supplies to borrow.

Love Sterling’s list of projects has grown and the teams are forming. In order to accomplish the day of service, the groups of college students are looking for supplies to borrow. Supplies can be dropped off in Cooper Hall at Erica Tremaine’s desk directly inside the west doors of the building. They should be labeled with a name and phone number to ensure their return after April 25. Any items that are broken while being used by Love Sterling volunteers will be replaced.

“Nunsense,” the musical comedy by Dan Goggin about the Little Sisters of Hoboken, opens Thursday, April 16, 2015, in Culbertson Auditorium at Sterling College. Under the direction of Mark Clark, assistant professor of music, the cast of “Nunsense” will perform April 16-18 at 8 p.m. The box office will open at 7 p.m., and the doors will open at 7:30 p.m.

Sterling College has announced that Dr. Luder Whitlock will address the Class of 2015 at the 123rd Sterling College Commencement on May 16, 2015, at 9:45 a.m. on East Cooper Lawn. Whitlock is the executive director of the CNL Charitable Foundation, the Seneff Family Foundation and president of the Excelsis Center.
