Sterling College recognized scholarship winners and other outstanding students during the annual Awards Convocation held April 11th at 11:00 am in Culbertson Auditorium
Students recognized for individual scholarships were:

Fifty-six to participate in Sterling College mission trips this summer

Fifty-six students will be participating in one of seven Sterling College short-term mission trips taking place this summer. Countries being visited include Belize, Brazil, Croatia, Kenya, Nicaragua and two trips to countries in Asia.
“Our missions program is rapidly growing. We have seven trips going out this summer, which is more than we have ever sent out from Sterling. It is very encouraging to see the tremendous growth our program has experienced over the past six years” said Henry Lederle, director of missions.

Sterling College Hires New VP - Chief Financial Officer

Scott Rich was recently named Sterling College’s Vice President - Chief Financial Officer and will begin his duties July 1.
Rich comes to Sterling College with a strong background in leadership and management. Previously he has worked at Stutzman Greenhouse, Inc., and Foodbrands America, both in Hutchinson. Rich received his associate’s degree from Hutchinson Community College, his bachelor’s degree from The Master’s College in Behavioral Science, and his Masters of Business Administration degree from Liberty University.

New Board Member Elected to SC Board of Trustees

Sterling College elected a new Chair and new Board member to the Board of Trustees during their Spring meeting.
Tony Thompson, a 1969 graduate of Sterling, was elected Chair of the Board. Thompson has been a member of Board of Trustees since 1998 and has served on the Finance and Investment and Board Development Committee.

Sterling College releases Spring 2008 Dean’s List

Sterling College has released its Dean’s List for the Spring 2008 semester. Criteria for the Dean’s List include the completion of at least twelve graded credit hours and a cumulative and semester GPA of 3.5 or better. The following area students were named to the list.

Natalie Gordon finishes third at NAIA National Track Meet

Senior Natalie Gordon finished her track career with a third place finish in the 400-meter hurdles at the NAIA National Track Championships held in Edwardsville, Ill.
Gordon entered the event ranked 13th overall with a time of 63.85. She ran a personal best time of 62.77 in the quarterfinals and a 62.94 in semifinals. In the finals she set another school record and another personal best with a time of 62.08 good enough for a third place finish.

Dillard named Region IV coach of the year

Sterling College track coach Jack Dillard was recognized as the NAIA Region 4 track coach of the year.
This honor was voted on by the coaches of the region, and was given during the Hall of Fame luncheon at the NAIA national track meet in Edwardsville, Ill.
Dillard is in his fourth year as head coach of the Warriors. During that time he has built the roster from 10 athletes in 2004 to a team of 35 this past season.

Religion Professor Publishes Third Book

Dr. Craig A. Smith, professor of Biblical studies and chair of the religion and philosophy department at Sterling College, has published his third book titled, At the Cross, At the Crossroads: Loving our Enemies in the 21st Century.

Forensics and Debate Finish Another Successful Season

From Seattle to Pensacola, the Sterling College Forensics and Debate teams made their presence known as they competed nationwide during the 2007-2008 season. Following in the footsteps of the previous year’s successful season, the team faced the challenge of not only matching their previous success but maintaining excellence throughout the entire season.
