Hutchinson, Kan. - The 2011 Warrior Wood and Wedge Golf Tournament took place on Monday, June 27th, at the Highlands Golf and Supper Club in Hutchinson, KS. 84 golfers participated in the all-day event. It was the 14th annual tournament held for by the Warrior Athletic Association as a key fundraising event for Sterling College Athletics and combined with the silent auction generated over $9,000 for the athletic program.
New Orleans, La. – Ryan J. “Pete” Manely was named the 2011 NAIA Athletic Trainers’ Association Athletic Trainer of the Year. Manely oversees the Sterling College Athletic Training Department and is the co-chair of the Exercise Science Department. The NAIA-ATA honored Manely at during their 2011 National Athletic Trainers’ Association Annual Meeting and Clinical Symposia in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Sterling College has released its Kelsey Scholar list for the 2010-2011 academic year. A total of 117 students were named to the list.
Kelsey Scholars are those full-time students who have successfully completed their courses with a 3.5 cumulative grade point average or above at the end of Spring Semester 2010.

Sterling College has released its Dean’s List for the Spring 2011 semester. A total of 178 students were named to the list. Criteria for the Dean’s List include the completion of at least twelve graded credit hours and a cumulative and semester GPA of 3.5 or better. The following students were named to the list.
Sterling, KS — Sterling College Athletic Director Gary Kempf has announced that Assistant Baseball coach Adrian Dinkel has been named the Interim Head Coach with the recent resignation of Jared Hamilton.
Sterling, Kan.– Sterling College Athletic Director Gary Kempf announced today that Head Baseball Coach, Jared Hamilton has resigned from his position. Hamilton became the Head Coach for the Warriors in 2008.
SIOUX CITY, Iowa. – No. 4 seed Cornerstone University (Mich.) held on for 64-55 victory of the fifth seed, Sterling College Lady Warriors in the opening round of the17th annual NAIA Division II Women’s Basketball National Championship at the Tyson Events Center/Gateway Arena in Sioux City, Iowa.
Sterling College junior Ashley Kraft received NAIA Division II All-American honors following her impressive individual season and leading the Lady Warriors to a 23-8 overall record and a trip to the NAIA Division II national tournament. Sterling also won both the KCAC regular season and conference tournament title this past year.
Four Sterling College men’s basketball players have been named to the All-KCAC Teams chosen by the conference coaches and announced at the conclusion 2007-2008 season.
Shane Stover was Sterling’s lone First Team All-KCAC selection and was named to the All-KCAC Defensive Team, while Jonathon Woods earned Honorable Mention All-KCAC honors. Freshman duo Zach Goodrich and Cody Brazelton were named the All-KCAC All-Freshman Team.
McGurk named KCAC Baseball “Pitcher of the Week”
Sterling College baseball player Devin McGurk earned weekly KCAC “Co Pitcher of the Week” honors this past week after helping the Warriors go 3-3 overall and 3-3 in KCAC play.
McGurk, 5’10, sophomore from Great Bend, KS, garnered “Pitcher of the Week” honors after pitching seven innings and only giving up one earned run in Sterling’s 5-1 win over Friends University. McGurk struck out three and walked two.
Sterling is currently 11-23 overall and 5-7 in KCAC play.
