Sterling College has been named to the “25 Most Beautiful Colleges and Universities in the Midwest 2017” by Christian Universities Online. The list was created “to present the best the Midwest has to offer when it comes to overall campus beauty.”
“We are pleased to be included in this list as we know firsthand what a beautiful place Sterling College is for learning and acquiring knowledge. Our historic buildings combined with our wonderful faculty and staff make it a joy to live, work and grow at Sterling College,” said Scott Rich, president.

Sterling College has announced the addition of Susie (Rathbun) Carney ’88 as the alumni director beginning July 1, 2017.
“We are thrilled to welcome Susie back home as alumni director. She’s both a natural and experienced networker, relationship-builder, and event planner. Sterling alumni and our programming for them and parents are in good hands with Susie,” said Scott Carter, vice president for institutional advancement and external relations.

The Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival for Region 5 was a time of celebration for the Sterling College theatre program, yielding seven awards among the professors and students. Assistant Professors of Theatre Arts Aaron and Samantha Kennedy, senior Bryce Bassett and junior Dani Goldberg were all recognized for their work.
Students are those who completed the semester with a 3.5 GPA or better in at least 12 credits of residential work

Sterling College announced 204 students who have met the criteria for the fall 2016 Dean’s Honor Roll. Students are those who completed the semester with a 3.5 GPA or better in at least 12 credits of residential work or 10 credits of online work. Eligible students did not receive an F or an incomplete in any course.

On Saturday, Jan. 21, 2017, at halftime of the men’s basketball game, Sterling College held a dedication ceremony for the Joe McFarland Mezzanine to honor the late Dr. Joe McFarland ’51, Sterling College alumnus. The mezzanine is made possible through a gift from Roberta (Dill) ’51 McFarland, who dedicated the new bleachers and renovations to the mezzanine level in honor of her late husband.
President Scott Rich successfully defended his dissertation in December 2016 and completed his doctorate of education from Northcentral University.

Professor Erin Laudermilk, McCreery Teacher of the Year 2014, has become Dr. Laudermilk after completing her doctorate of philosophy in education from Northcentral University. While maintaining her status as an associate professor at Sterling College, Laudermilk worked toward her doctorate, writing her dissertation “Examining Athletic Training Students’ Perceptions of Professional Behavior on Online Social Media Using the Theory of Planned Behavior.”

A fresh batch of original art will come to the Sterling community as the 2017 Student Printmaking Show and Sale will take place on Thursday, Feb. 2, from 5-7 p.m. in the Sterling College Art and Media Center gallery. Students from the interterm printmaking classes will display and sell their prints on paper, fabric and other surfaces in a variety of formats including prints for framing, cards, scarves and banners created through a variety of printmaking techniques.
The dinner was led by volunteers Teresa Lang and Jodi Besthorn, who prepared students for the etiquette required in formal or business settings.

The tension and stress that accompany one’s first business lunch will not be a problem for the Sterling College business students who attended the Phi Beta Lambda business club’s etiquette dinner. The dinner was led by volunteers Teresa Lang and Jodi Besthorn, who prepared students for the etiquette required in formal or business settings.
