Dr. Laura Bateman, assistant professor of music, will perform at a recital on Monday, August 27, at 7:30 p.m. at the Sterling United Presbyterian Church. She will be accompanied by Dr. Brad Nix, pianist and associate professor of music. The public is invited to attend this free event.
Three professors were recognized for 10 years of service to the College on Wednesday, August 8 at the annual Kick Off Banquet. Terri Gaeddert, Merrillyn Kloefkorn and Dr. Henry Lederle have served Sterling College since 2002. 
The College's Keynote Convocation will take place on Friday, August 24, celebrating the beginning of the academic year. Dr. Gregory Kerr, vice president of academic affairs and academic dean, will deliver a speech titled “A Place in History.” 
The Princeton Review identified Sterling College as one of the best colleges in the Midwest in its feature “2013 Best Colleges: Region by Region” that was posted August 20, 2012 on its website, PrincetonReview.com. 
Several new faculty members are joining the College this year.
Dr. Adebukola Gbade-Oyelakin has been named to the Talmon Bell Chair of Mathematics at Sterling College.
Director of Debate and Forensics Ken Troyer believes in giving back, and he is teaching his students to do the same. This summer, Troyer and his debate team member, Nolan Chaney of South Hutchinson, Kan., had the opportunity to serve together at the Heart of America Debate Institute.
Assistant Professor of Language and Literature Mark Watney spent much of his summer reading and studying classical Greek plays as he prepared to attend a Harvard-sponsored seminar on Song Culture of Athenian Drama.
Members of the Women's Soccer team recently returned from Anchorage, Alaska, where they spent six days working with the Mountain View Boys and Girls Club and in local parks hosting soccer clinics for kids. The team left on July 22 and returned July 29.
The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Sports Information Directors Association (NAIA-SIDA) awarded the 2011 Sterling College Football Media Guide fifth place in the 2011-2012 NAIA-SIDA Football Brochure Publication Contest.
