Sterling College’s spring musical is “Nunsense”
“Nunsense,” the musical comedy by Dan Goggin about the Little Sisters of Hoboken, opens Thursday, April 16, 2015, in Culbertson Auditorium at Sterling College. Under the direction of Mark Clark, assistant professor of music, the cast of “Nunsense” will perform April 16-18 at 8 p.m. The box office will open at 7 p.m., and the doors will open at 7:30 p.m.
When Sister Julia, Child of God, finds out she has accidentally poisoned 52 of the sisters in her convent with her cooking, the remaining sisters find themselves in need of funding for funerals. They decide to put on a variety show in a local school auditorium where five sisters use their talents to raise money. Reverend Mother Regina, a former circus performer; Sister Mary Hubert, the Mistress of Novices; Sister Robert Anne, a streetwise nun from Brooklyn; Sister Mary Leo, a novice wannabe ballerina; and Sister Mary Amnesia, a sister who lost her memory when a crucifix fell on her head, will entertain the audience with singing, dancing and an audience quiz.
Tickets will be $10 for adults and $5 for seniors, students and children. A special matinee performance for high school students will take place on Friday, April 17, at 1 p.m. Contact Kacie Hastings at khastings@sterling.edu for more information.
The cast includes Raven Taylor of Wichita, Kansas, as Reverend Mother Mary Regina; Abbey Pickering of Clearwater, Kansas, as Sister Mary Hubert; Darsha Bechard of Belleville, Kansas, as Sister Robert Anne; Chloe Wooten of Norco, California, as Sister Mary Amnesia; and Jordan Himes of Eureka, Kansas, as Sister Mary Leo.
