The Kansas Teachers of Promise for the fall semester convened in Wichita on Nov. 22 for the annual workshops led by the 2015 Kansas Teacher of the Year finalists. Sterling College named Elizabeth Soliday of Estes Park, Colorado, and Morgan Walton of Sterling, Kansas, as their fall representatives.
Criteria for the Teachers of Promise award relate to the key elements of the Sterling Teacher Education Program and include IDEAL attributes of integrity, dependability, effective communication, appropriate attitude and leadership.
Sterling's Antonio Bray (SR/Van Nuys, Calif.) and Reggie Langford (SR/Rancho Cordova, Calif.) have been selected to participate in the fourth annual D2 vs NAIA Challenge in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina on December 20th, 2014. Kick-off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
The Lady Warriors traveled to Leavenworth, Kan. on Saturday to take on the University of Saint Mary Spires for their last KCAC match-up before the Christmas break. Sterling survived a second half offensive push by Saint Mary to take down the Spires 80-73.
The first week of December will house concerts for the Sterling Community Band, Sterling College choirs and small chamber ensemble. All concerts are free and open to the public.
The Sterling Community Band concert will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 2, at 7:30 p.m. at the United Presbyterian Church under the direction of Dr. Brad Nix, associate professor of music.

College students, recent graduates and professionals from across the country met at the National Student Leadership Forum in Washington, D.C., and Sterling College sent four students to participate in the event. Josh Hood, Fayola Oyatayo, Chelsea Stephenson and Tennissa Williams were encouraged by speakers in national politics, business and social services to become better leaders through refining themselves. The meetings and small group sessions that worked on building character and understanding leadership were part of the conference that took place Oct. 31-Nov.
