The list of projects for Love Sterling is growing, and teams of volunteers are getting ready for the annual day of service. In order to complete all of the projects, Sterling College students are looking for supplies to borrow on the day of the event, April 30.
The students are looking for hand saws, wheelbarrows, a weed eater, a chainsaw, ladders and a tiller.
Kimberly Kuo is Senior Vice President for Public Affairs at Coca-Cola Consolidated, the nation’s largest Coca-Cola bottler.

Kimberly Kuo, senior vice president for public affairs at Coca-Cola Consolidated, will be the speaker for the 2016 Sterling College Commencement ceremony. The ceremony will take place on Saturday, May 14, at 9:45 a.m. on East Cooper Lawn on the Sterling College campus. The event is open to the public.

Sterling College has announced that it will hold the first Great Plains Annual Photography Competition, a juried show for high school students, in April. All high school students may submit pieces to the photography competition, which offers scholarships and prizes for the winning photographs. The deadline for submissions has been extended to April 29.
David Stenulson was chosen for the Pastel National Exhibition at the Wichita Center for the Arts.

Expanding his national presence, David Stenulson, assistant professor of art and design, was chosen for the Pastel National Exhibition at the Wichita Center for the Arts. Stenulson’s piece, titled “Jam,” will be on display April 1-May 8, 2016. An opening reception for the exhibition will be held on April 1 at 5 p.m.
Nine trophies were handed out at the JV National Tournament in Hutchinson, Kansas, on March 11-13.

Nine trophies for five Sterling College Debate and Forensics junior varsity members were handed out at the JV National Tournament in Hutchinson, Kansas, on March 11-13. Leading the award count was freshman Wesley Lowrey of Topeka, Kansas, with three first-place finishes in extemporaneous speaking, impromptu speaking and overall speaker in IPDA. To qualify, students must be in their first two years of collegiate competition.

Spring cleaning can be a breeze with the help of Love Sterling volunteers. The seventh annual Love Sterling will take place on April 30, and community members who need help with landscaping, painting or any other tasks are encouraged to submit a project request for this special community service event.
Nine students from the Sterling College Athletic Training Program were awarded honors from the Kansas Athletic Trainers’ Society.

Recognized for their outstanding academic achievement, nine students from the Sterling College Athletic Training Program were awarded honors from the Kansas Athletic Trainers’ Society. Across the state, 114 students from 14 colleges and universities were named to the list based on their academic standing and 2015 grade point average.
Kansas high school theatre students learned a variety of skills and techniques at Sterling College’s Theatre Workshop Day on March 7.

Kansas high school theatre students learned a variety of skills and techniques at Sterling College’s Theatre Workshop Day on March 7. Approximately 350 high school students from 16 different schools participated in the event that included multiple workshops and a matinee performance of the musical “Chess.”
Attendees were given the opportunity to learn about acting, audition monologues, dance for the stage, forensics, taking head shots, improvisation, musical theatre singing, scenic painting, stage combat and sword fighting, stage lighting, stage makeup and costuming.
Dr. Spencer Wagley will begin serving in the newly formed role of associate vice president for academic affairs.

Sterling College announced last week that Dr. Spencer Wagley of Sterling, Kansas, will begin serving in the newly formed role of associate vice president for academic affairs. Wagley is currently an associate professor of education at the College and will begin his new position July 1.

On March 4-5, Sterling College hosted the Phi Beta Lambda spring state leadership conference, a competition that gives college students from across the state of Kansas a chance to showcase their knowledge of business practices and skills. All five participants from Sterling College placed either first or second in a range of categories, qualifying them for the national PBL competition.
