Renovations to SC Art and Media Center in progress

This summer, the Sterling College Art and Media Center is receiving a facelift. This renovation is being done by the Service Department with special thanks to Rick Winters, plumber, Ben Swihart, and student workers Micah Mitchell, Drew Davis, Isaac Stephenson and David Tank.

Mark Clark celebrates 39 years on stage

Sterling, Kan. – Mark Clark, Sterling College assistant professor of music, is celebrating his 39th year of performing in local theatres across central Kansas. Beginning his professional career at Music Theatre of Wichita in 1975, Clark has participated in multiple shows at MTW, the Crown Uptown, Stage One, Cabaret Old Town Theatre, Wichita Children’s Theatre, enCompass Center for Creative Arts and other local theatres.

Langvardt works with Jacksonville Jaguars

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Sterling College alum, Jess Langvardt, begins his first season as an assistant strength coach with the Jacksonville Jaguars this year. This is Langvardt's second stint with a National Football League (NFL) franchise after interning with the Indianapolis Colts during the 2011 season.

Eshleman, Rodgers Sign Pro Contracts

Two Sterling Warrior products Matt Eshleman and Stephen Rodgers have signed professional contracts.

Eshleman, a member of the 2013 World Series team, signed with the Fort Worth Cats in the United League. Eshleman was the 2012 KCAC conference reliever of the year posting 7-1 record, 4 SV, 1.58 ERA in 40 IP. In 2013 Eshleman posted a 2-1 record with 13 Saves, 3rd most in the country.

SC missions return to the U.S.

The final group of students, faculty and staff from Sterling College returned to the United States on June 11, coming back from nine locations from around the world. The teams learned about the other cultures and participated in service projects including working with local churches, teaching in schools, giving out school supplies, preparing meals for distribution and many other tasks.

Briones published in Library of New Testament Study series

Dr. David Briones, assistant professor of theology and ministry at Sterling College, has presented several lectures on the apostle Paul at conferences and in the classroom. In November, his work on Paul can be on your living room bookshelf. Briones’s Ph.D. thesis on Paul’s financial policy will be published as a part of the Library of New Testament Studies series by T&T Clark.

SC student selected for Exploring Liberty

Caleb Watney of Sterling, Kan., sophomore at Sterling College, took part in Exploring Liberty, an economic conference, from May 25-31. The conference was sponsored by the Institute of Humane Studies in Winston-Salem, N.C., at Wake Forest University and focused on exploring libertarian thought. It included sessions on the historical, economic and philosophical foundations for a free society.
