Sterling College has announced it has raised $20 million in gifts and pledges towards the building projects for the SterlingNOW Capital Campaign, meeting the requirements of the $2 million challenge grant offered by the J.E. and L.E. Mabee Foundation of Tulsa, Okla. Since Sterling achieved this goal by the deadline, the Mabee Foundation will provide a grant of $2 million, which completes the fundraising goal of the campaign’s construction projects, including a new science and research center.

The Criminal Justice program at Sterling College will host its third annual career fair on Thursday, October 11, 2018, from 1-4 p.m. on the second floor of Wilson Hall. The event is free and advance registration is available at www.sterling.edu/cj-career-fair.
Sterling College hosted representatives from Wichita State University to formally sign pre-engineering articulation agreements to benefit Sterling College students who wish to further their engineering training. The signing took place on the Sterling College campus on Sept. 21.

Sterling College assistant professor Dr. Glenn Butner has had his book “The Son who Learned Obedience: A Theological Case Against the Eternal Submission of the Son” published and it is currently available. A book launch event will be held on Tuesday, October 2 at 5 p.m. in Heritage Hall in Cooper Hall. The event will feature discussion and refreshments.

Sterling College is pleased to announce a lead naming gift commitment to the SterlingNOW capital campaign from John and Phyllis Wilkey of Sterling, Kansas. A significant feature of the expansion of the Gleason Physical Education Center will be the addition of an auxiliary gym located on the northwest corner of the facility and named in honor of the Wilkey family.

Sterling College has announced its Alumni Award winners for 2018 to be recognized at Homecoming on Oct. 4-6, 2018. The Distinguished Service Award will be presented to Paul Buchanan ’53, the Alumni Award will be awarded to Phil ’85 and Laila (Ingalls) Brownlee ’85 and the Young Alumni Award will be given to Jonathon Federwisch ’05.

Tall tales involving a mermaid, a giant, a witch, dancing circus elephants and many more colorful characters make up the magical story of Big Fish – the musical that will be presented by Sterling College Theatre next week as its annual Homecoming production. The contemporary Broadway musical will be seen Thursday, Friday and Saturday, October 4, 5, and 6 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, October 7 at 2 p.m. in Culbertson Auditorium.

Kansas State Fair patrons were treated to some of the best competitive speakers in the state at the third High School Forensics Showcase, presented by Sterling College. The event was held on Thursday, Sept. 13, in the Hansen Auditorium on the fairgrounds and was hosted and organized by Sterling College Debate and Forensics. Over 550 audience members were in attendance.
