“Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God” – Romans 15:7
HOST, formerly known as the Foster Family Program, was created to welcome students to Sterling, and to help students better adjust to life at Sterling College. It is our hope that students who participate in HOST will build relationships, make connections, and their experience at Sterling College will be enriched by having a local family welcome them as their own.
HOST families consist of both Sterling College faculty/staff members and community members who have a desire to be the student's home away from home. These families open their homes for the students in a variety of ways (i.e. meals, attend church together, attend College activities, invite students to join family activities etc.).
New students have an opportunity to sign up for a HOST during orientation weekend at the Community Fair and throughout their first weeks at Sterling College. Once students have been matched with a HOST family, they will be given each other's contact information, so connections can be made and the relationship between student and foster family can begin!
HOST is available for Sterling College students but is not mandatory.
