Sterling College has been repeatedly recognized for its academics and affordability, but now the College is receiving accolades for a different reason: the beauty of its campus. Sterling College was recently ranked number nine on “The 50 Most Beautiful Christian Colleges & Universities in the U.S. 2016” list released by Christian Universities Online.
Elijah Klein will direct a small cast in performing the drama “Far Away,” written by Caryl Churchill, in Culbertson Auditorium at 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 4-5

On Dec. 4-5, Sterling College students and the Sterling community will have the opportunity to experience a contemplative show with a political theme. For his senior project, Elijah Klein of Valley Center, Kansas, will direct a small cast in performing the drama “Far Away,” written by Caryl Churchill, in Culbertson Auditorium at 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 4-5, and will last approximately an hour. Doors will open at 7:30 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.
Four Sterling College alumni were honored at the Alumni Banquet on Oct. 23 for excellence in their career, service to others and loyalty to their Alma Mater.

Four Sterling College alumni were honored at the Alumni Banquet on Oct. 23 for excellence in their career, service to others and loyalty to their Alma Mater. The highest alumni award, the Distinguished Service Award, was presented to John ’60 and Catherine (Learned) fs’61 Grove of Goleta, California. Receiving the Alumni Award was Dr. Kenneth J. Niermann ’97 of Nashville, Tennessee, and the Young Alumni Award recipient for 2015 was Joshua D. Boos ’12 of Dallas, Texas.
Evelyn Mandell of Owasso, Oklahoma, and Hayley Ray of Derby, Kansas, have received the honor of being named Sterling College’s Teachers of Promise for the fall semester.

Due to her successful participation in the Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s Youth of the Year competition, Sterling College freshman Alliyah Gray of Hutchinson, Kansas, won the title of Kansas Youth of Year and received over $40,000 in scholarship funds to support her while she pursues a degree at Sterling College.
Sterling College seniors Matthew Oden and Emily Rivera each passed the athletic training Board of Certification exam.

Sterling College seniors Matthew Oden and Emily Rivera each passed the athletic training Board of Certification exam. Oden of San Jacinto, California, and Rivera of Fort Worth, Texas, both passed the national board exam on their first attempt, officially moving one step closer to becoming certified athletic trainers.
Sterling College continues to impress. Year after year, institutions such as The Princeton Review, U.S. News & World Report and Christian Universities Online bestow titles like “Best in the Midwest,” “Best Regional College” and “Most Affordable Christian College” on the school, helping Sterling College to retain a prestigious position among colleges and universities within the state and the nation.

Sterling College senior Chloe Wootton will be performing her senior recital in Culbertson Auditorium on Nov. 14 at 8 p.m. The event, which will last approximately an hour, is free and open to the public.
For her recital, Wootton will be performing a variety of musical theatre pieces. She will be joined by a few former cast members as she sings pieces from musicals that she has starred in during her time at the College. In addition, Wootton will be performing other musical theatre pieces and will speak to the audience as she moves through the recital.

The talent of David Stenulson, assistant professor of art and design at Sterling College, will be put on display when his painting is shown at Manifest Gallery in Cincinnati, Ohio, this month as part of the show “Monolithic.” Stenulson’s painting, which was one of just 15 selected from 240 entries from over 80 different artists, will be on exhibition from Nov. 6 to Dec. 4.

Sterling College Board of Trustees member Joe Lang ’66 of Wichita, Kansas, passed away Nov. 5. Lang leaves behind a legacy of servant leadership with his family, his church, and Sterling College.
“Joe will be deeply missed. He was a true servant leader, who was passionate about education and who loved and served his Alma Mater with distinction,” said President Scott Rich.
