The World War II scandal at an aeronautical company is the basis for Arthur Miller’s play “All My Sons,” a story that takes the audience through an emotion-filled journey as two families react over a soldier missing in action. “All My Sons” is directed by Sasha Hildebrand, assistant professor of theatre arts, and will run Nov. 17-18, 2017, at 8 p.m. and Nov. 19 at 2 p.m. in Culbertson Auditorium in Spencer Hall on the campus of Sterling College. Due to the content of this play, there will be a short talk-back session between the audience and the cast after Friday’s performance.

Sterling College has announced the addition of two alumni to the Board of Trustees: Larry Dashiell ’76 and Parker Smith ’66, effective immediately.
“The Board of Trustees showed overwhelming support for the addition of Larry and Parker. They each bring a different experience in leadership, and we look forward to furthering the mission of Sterling College together,” said Randy Henry, Chairman of the Sterling College Board of Trustees.
Senior Gage Brookman will return for his fourth trip to the National Forensics Association National Tournament

Senior Gage Brookman will return for his fourth trip to the National Forensics Association National Tournament, having earned his bid at the Missouri Mule Tournament at Central Missouri University. Brookman was one of two Sterling College students to come home with awards from the tournament.
“Gage is excited about the topic and the competition this year, as enjoying the topic and believing in the arguments being made makes it much easier for him to prepare for and compete over the long weekends,” said Coach Ken Troyer.

Sterling College Board of Trustees member Dr. Thomas Simpson of Sterling, Kansas, passed away on Monday, Oct. 30, 2017. The funeral will be held Friday, Nov. 3, 2017, at 2 p.m. at the United Presbyterian Church in Sterling. Visitation will be from 2-7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, at Birzer Funeral Home, Sterling, with family present from 5-7 p.m.

Kevin Palau, president of the Luis Palau Association, challenged Sterling College students, employees and guests on Friday, Oct. 27, 2017, while the guest speaker for the Ross and Fern Freeman Lecture Series for Servant Leadership. Palau shared how his organization is impacting the city of Portland, Oregon, through partnering with the community, making a difference in the lives of its citizens through volunteering and supporting local schools, working with the foster system and refugee care.

Singing under the direction of award-winning composer Victor C. Johnson, the Sterling College Choirs will perform in the 8th Annual Composer Festival. Singing from a variety of musical genres, the 50-voice choir will perform at Sterling United Presbyterian Church on Monday, Oct. 30, at 7 p.m. The public is invited to attend this free concert. For those who would like to give a free-will donation to the Sterling College Choirs, there will be an opportunity at the event.

Enrollment data for the 2017-18 academic year is out, with record-breaking numbers from Sterling College. With 218 first-time freshmen, the College has recruited the largest incoming class in its history and the fifth largest total headcount with 703 students. Sterling College continues to grow in diversity through its ethnicity statistics and international students, publishing 34 percent of students claiming an ethnicity other than white.
Sterling College announced that 87 students were enrolled in their dual credit program with Sterling High School and Berean Academy High School

With a large increase from previous years, Sterling College announced that 87 students were enrolled in their dual credit program with Sterling High School and Berean Academy High School. This is the highest enrollment of dual credit high school students in Sterling College’s history as a four-year college.

Only 92 schools in the Midwest were named to the 2018 U.S. News & World Report list for Best Regional Colleges, and Sterling College received such recognition. The Sterling College Online Learning program was named to the 2018 Best Online Bachelor’s Programs as well.
