Palau to speak at Freeman Lecture Series
Continuing a tradition of excellence and leadership training, The Ross and Fern Freeman Lecture Series for Servant Leadership will feature speaker Kevin Palau on Friday, Oct. 27, 2017, at 10 a.m. in Culbertson Auditorium at Sterling College. The event is free and open to the public.
“We are blessed to have Kevin coming to campus to share about his experience bringing the Gospel to people across the world by way of service and festivals. Kevin’s father, Luis, has a tremendous impact across the globe with the help of Kevin’s leadership as president of the Luis Palau Association,” said David Landis, vice president for administration and institutional initiatives.
Kevin Palau is president of the Luis Palau Association, a Portland, Oregon, based ministry that has shared the Good News of Jesus Christ with 1 billion people around the world through Kevin’s father, evangelist Luis Palau. Palau joined the Luis Palau Association in 1985. Under Palau’s leadership, LPA has produced some of the largest Christian events ever staged. To this date, the Luis Palau Association has “shared the Good News of Jesus Christ with 1 billion people around the world through Kevin’s father, evangelist Luis Palau.” Their main technique has been the festival model for mass evangelism, using free, family-friendly celebrations that bring together well-known Christian and mainstream music artists, prominent Christian athletes, extreme sports exhibitions, interactive children’s areas, and much more.
In 2006, Kevin Palau and his team formed a strategic partnership that connects Christian action sports ministries. In 2008, they began the Festival 2.0 model that works with local city officials to host a Season of Service, a massive, area-wide outreach showing the love of Christ through community service projects that meet the city’s greatest needs. The effort has received widespread media coverage in major outlets including USA Today, Reader’s Digest, and PBS’s Religion & Ethics.
Palau holds a degree in religious studies from Wheaton College. He lives in Beaverton, Oregon, near LPA’s international headquarters with his wife, Michelle, and their three children.
The Freeman Lecture Series seeks to educate individuals on the various values and applications of leadership by highlighting the servant leadership attributes present in others. Those interested in attending the lecture should RSVP to Emily Fuller in the Office of the President at 620-278-2173 by Monday, Oct. 23.
