Senior Produces Worhip CD Featuring SC Praise Band

Ideally, senior projects should reflect the full range of a student's education. In Sterling College senior Matt Ehresman's case, that should have been nearly impossible. "I created my own major," he said, "graphic communications. I minored in youth ministry and I also took some business and music classes-I thought they might be useful."

Sterling College Urban Ministry Class Provides Hands-on Opportunities

When students entered the Urban Ministry class at Sterling College this past spring, they may not have expected to get much field experience. After all, Sterling College is in Sterling, Kans., a town of only 2500 people. Knowing this, however, Dr. Craig Smith, the professor teaching the course, arranged for a field trip-to World Impact's "Encounter the City" conference in Wichita.

Sterling College's Assessment Results in Best Reaccreditation Terms since 1977

For colleges, the official news that they have been approved for reaccreditation is much like the diplomas their students receive during graduation: the "piece of paper" stands for a lot of hard work.
But it also symbolizes progress and success, which is why, when Sterling College's President Dr. Paul J. Maurer announced last week that the College had received an official 10-year reaccreditation, he said, "This is a truly significant moment for Sterling College. Join me in giving thanks to God for his goodness."

Warrior Athletic Golf Tournament set for June, 21, 2010

The Warrior Athletic Association announced that the Warrior Wood & Wedge golf tournament will once again be held again at the Highlands Golf Club in Hutchinson, Kansas. This athletic fundraiser will be held on Monday, June 21, 2010.

The Warrior Athletic Association is designed to advance Sterling College athletics by strengthening the athletic budget to help meet needs in all our sports programs.

Sterling College Students Donate Nearly 900 Hours during Love Sterling Event

Downtown Sterling recently received a makeover through "Love Sterling," a community outreach event planned by Sterling College. More than 150 College students and community members provided nearly 900 hours of labor on Saturday, May 1. "We were able to accomplish every single project we'd planned except one," said Anne Smith, chaplain at Sterling College. "Truly, it was amazing the way folks and resources arrived just as we needed them."

Sterling College Sends Soccer Mission Trip to Kenya

The Sterling College mission trip to Kenya this summer will involve a lot of soccer-or "football," as it is called in Kenya. Dave Underwood, head men's soccer coach at Sterling College, is leading eight of the soccer players on a mission trip to Nairobi. The team is hosting clinics and training sessions at schools, orphanages, and the Kibera slum and will play with several African club teams.

Sterling College Presents Posthumous Award in Honor of Tim Hoover

The Sterling College Business Department made the decision to give Tim Hoover the Outstanding Business Student award on April 14. On April 15, Tim Hoover, a first-year , non-traditional student from Sterling, collapsed in class and died. He had suffered with diabetes and complications related to it for many years. Despite his health issues, Hoover was passionate about getting an education and determined to pursue it.

Sterling College Hires Joshua Wisner ’07 as Resident Director for Kilbourn

Two years of teaching in China is not usually on the résumé of a resident director at Sterling College, but that is the case for new Resident Director Josh Wisner. Wisner spent two years teaching English classes in China after graduating from Sterling College in 2007. During his College career Wisner played on the SC men's basketball team, served as a resident assistant for two years and was named the Outstanding Male Student of the Year.
