Sterling College Presents Posthumous Award in Honor of Tim Hoover
The Sterling College Business Department made the decision to give Tim Hoover the Outstanding Business Student award on April 14. On April 15, Tim Hoover, a first-year , non-traditional student from Sterling, collapsed in class and died. He had suffered with diabetes and complications related to it for many years. Despite his health issues, Hoover was passionate about getting an education and determined to pursue it.
The business department decided to present the award posthumously to Hoover's parents at the Award Convocation. When they did, business faculty made the announcement that they were going to change the name of the award to the Tim Hoover Business Student of the Year Award.
"Tim's influence on faculty and fellow students through his friendship and personal testimony will have a lasting impact on people's lives," said Assistant Professor of Business Tim Thorpe. "Tim's character, determination, positive attitude, and spiritual testimony provide an excellent standard for selecting future nominees for this award."
