Apart from the typical general education courses offered during the Interterm session, three Sterling College students had the rare opportunity to take part in a course that literally gave them a chance to live their dreams. The course, "Music Technology," was taught by Professor of Biblical Studies Rev. Dr. Craig Smith, and it provided the students a chance to go to Nashville, Tenn. from January 9-16 to explore the role of the arts in worship and to gain exposure to songwriting and producing.
Determining what direction to take after graduation can be a tough experience for a college senior. For Sterling College student Matt Jaderston, his future is no longer a mystery as last month he found out he has been accepted into the United States Peace Corps. Jaderston is an English major from Sterling, Kan., and is the son of Dean and Julie Jaderston.
STERLING, Kan. - Sterling College Hall of Fame Member, former football coach, and former All-America football player Curt Bennett passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2011, at the age of 75. Bennett served as the head football coach at Sterling College on three separate occasions and accumulated an overall record of 59-60-3 during his 13 year tenure. Curt currently holds the record at Sterling College for most football victories as a head coach. Current head coach Andy Lambert is second on the all-time wins list with 45 wins at Sterling.
Sterling College named 225 students to their Fall Dean's List. Criteria for the Dean's List include the completion of at least twelve graded credit hours and a semester GPA of 3.5 or better. Sterling College Online students must have completed at least ten credit hours.
Sterling College is pleased to announce the hiring of K.C. Bassett as its new financial aid assistant. She began on December 1. In her new role, K.C. is responsible for assisting with the processing of financial aid applications. She also manages the electronic transmitting of FAFSA data and loan disbursements.
The Sterling College Music Department will present their 3rd annual Musical Theatre Cabaret, Pure Imagination, Friday, January 28th and Saturday, January 29th. The cabaret begins at 7:30 pm and will be performed in Upper Wilson Hall on the SC campus.
Among the usual general education courses offered, Sterling College's interterm session had one notably, yet unusual, class offered this year. From January 4 - 20, 2011, twelve students "went to the movies" by through a course called "B-Movies." The course, taught by Assistant Professor of Mathematics Daniel Callahan, involved screening movies that held topics such as the atomic age, atom bombs and missiles and the threat of imminent nuclear holocaust.

A Five Star Champions of Character Institution shows commitment in athletics to the five key areas of character training, conduct in competition, academic focus, character recognition, and character promotion.
