Hutchinson, Kan. - No. 2 seed Sterling College allowed seven runs in the final two innings, but held off No. 3 Tabor College to earn a 9-8 victory in game two of the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference baseball tournament at Hobart-Detter Field on Wednesday.
With the win, Sterling (29-22) advances into the semifinal round to play the winner of No. 1 seed Kansas Wesleyan University and No. 4 University of Saint Mary at 3 p.m. on Thursday. Tabor (42-13) drops into loser's bracket of the championship and will play No. 5 seed Ottawa University at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

Sterling College announces that Rev. Dr. James D. Miller of Tulsa, Okla., will be the speaker for the 2011 Commencement ceremonies. The Commencement ceremony is to be held Saturday, May 14 at 9:45 a.m. on the lawn of Cooper Hall.
On Saturday, April 30th, nearly 200 Sterling College students, faculty and staff and community members – ranging in age from elementary children to grandparents—joined together to serve the town of Sterling, Kan., by participating in the event “Love Sterling,” a town wide service day. The president of Love Sterling, sophomore Nathan Lusk, and a leadership team of students advised by Joellen Maurer, had been planning the event since the Fall of 2010.
Sterling, Kan. – After winning three games out of four against Tabor College this past weekend, the Sterling College Warrior baseball team is preparing for the 2011 Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) Baseball Championship Tournament that begins on Tuesday at Hobart-Detter Field in Hutchinson, Kansas. Sterling will be the second seed in the tournament as the Warriors finished one game out of a regular season KCAC title behind Kansas Wesleyan University with a 20-8 KCAC record. In the first round of the tournament, SC will play Tabor, which will be their fifth straight game against the Bluejays, at 11:00 am on Wednesday morning.

Salina, Kan. – Former Sterling College football player and current SC senior David Wray IV will play in the fifth annual Victory Sports Network (VSN) Senior Classic in Salina, Kansas on Saturday April 30 at Salina Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:00 pm. The game will feature the Americans facing off against the Nationals. Wray, along with 23 other former KCAC players, will be on the Nationals squad as a running back wearing number seven.
The annual Night of One Acts at Sterling College will be presented this Friday, April 29th in Culbertson Auditorium at 8:00 p.m. Five short plays directed by members of the Play Directing class will be performed with some new and familiar faces to the Sterling College Theatre. The events is free and open to the public.
Sterling College seniors Taren Morse of Sterling, Kan., and Jessica Stuart of Wichita, Kan., will have their Senior Art Exhibition on display at the Art and Design Center from April 19th – May 12th . A reception in their honor will be held on Friday, April 29th from 5:00-7:00 p.m. in the Art and Design Center gallery.
Sterling, Kan. – After a 2-2 split with Kansas Wesleyan University last week, the Sterling College Warrior baseball team is tied atop the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) with Tabor College. In the series with Kansas Wesleyan, each team won a game on the road and a game at home. Currently, the Warriors are 19-5 in the conference, 27-19 overall with four games left to play in the regular season. Final seeding for the Warriors in the 2011 KCAC Baseball Championship Tournament at Hobart-Detter Field in Hutchinson, Kansas on May 3-6 will be determined this week as Sterling will play a four game series against Tabor on Friday and Saturday.
