More than half of Sterling College's junior and senior athletic training majors were honored by the Kansas Athletic Trainers' Society for outstanding academic achievement in SC's accredited Athletic Training Program.

Two students received First-Team All-Academic Honors: Andrew Wolfenberger of Newton, Kan., and Joe Streckfus of Lakin, Kan. First-Team honorees had to be full time students of junior status or higher during the 2008 calendar year with a minimum 3.8 average GPA.

The town of Sterling will be buzzing early on the morning of Saturday, May 1, as more than 150 Sterling College students and community members get ready to "Love Sterling" through working on projects all over the town.

This is a good story for everyone involved," said Sterling College Director of Athletic Training Pete Manely. It's good for SC graduate Kim Elwood '05, who will leave her position as assistant athletic trainer at Sterling College this summer to pursue her master's in athletic training at the University of Oklahoma. It's also good for SC alumnus Jason Coles '09, who just finished his master's at Ohio University and will take Elwood's position. "And it's good for the Sterling College Athletic Training Program," said Manely.

Sterling College Athletic Director Andy Lambert announces today the hiring of John Harding as head volleyball coach for the Lady Warriors.

 Harding comes to Sterling College from Cordova High School in Cordova, Alaska, where he has led the Wolverines for nine seasons. Under his leadership the team went to the Alaska State Championships eight times; finishing as champions in 2005, 2006, 2007, runner-up in 2002, 2003, 2004 and third place in 2008.
