Dr. Roy Millhouse, associate professor of biblical studies and chair of the Theology and Ministry Department, will be the speaker for the 2022 Sterling College Commencement ceremony. The ceremony will honor the Class of 2022 and will take place on Saturday, May 7, at 9:45 a.m. in the Gleason Physical Education Center on the Sterling College campus.
Millhouse has served the College since 2014 in the Theology and Ministry Department. He previously taught at Baylor University and the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. He has also served as a pastor in Arkansas and Texas.
For their next public performance, SC Theatre will be venturing into the world of opera.

Sterling College music and theatre students are quite comfortable doing music theatre with shows like “Legally Blonde” and “Newsies.” For their next public performance, they are venturing into the world of opera, many for the first time. Their concert “A Night at the Opera” will be presented this Sunday, March 27 at 6 p.m. in Upper Wilson Hall on the college campus. The concert will include vocal solos and duets as well as group numbers from both Sterling College Concert Choir and the Highland Singers.
A one-time Easter worship experience for a Kansas City church has come to be performed over 50 times.

What began as a simple one-time Easter worship experience for a single church in Kansas City has come to be performed well over 50 times across the US and even internationally in England, Australia, and other countries. It is “The Golgotha Experience” written and performed by Sterling College alum Leah (Frees) Roberts ’11 and her husband Jesse. They will be bringing their unique worship experience to Sterling College on Sunday, March 27 at 7 p.m. in Culbertson Auditorium.

After a one-year hiatus due to COVID, Sterling College Art & Design students once again have a chance to show their work this year. The 2022 Student Juried Exhibition which is in the Sterling College Art Gallery through April 15. Works were selected by college art faculty Libby Reimer and Sia Joung. The works on exhibit range from digital photography, painting, printmaking, digital painting, and drawing.
Sterling College Forensics team has had a team member qualify for the National Interstate Oratory Competition.

For the 5th consecutive year and 6th time in school history, Sterling College Forensics team has had a team member qualify for the National Interstate Oratory Competition. Paige Sherraden, a junior from Plainville, Kan., qualified by virtue of her performance throughout the season.
Sherraden is one of two students from the state of Kansas that is afforded the opportunity to compete at the annual competition. With such an elite field, all bidding to be considered the most persuasive, the competition is fierce.
The Sterling College Debate and Forensics Teams continues to compete in a virtual environment.

The Sterling College Debate and Forensics Teams continues to compete in a virtual environment but is eagerly looking toward a return to in person arguing. On Jan. 28-30, Sterling competed against 49 schools and more than 500 individuals in the Gorlok Gala Debate Tournament, hosted virtually by Webster University in St. Louis, Mo.

Sterling College held the privilege of hosting DeLano J. Sheffield, nonprofit leader based in Kansas City, for the College's annual Peacemakers Convocation on Feb. 4. Sheffield brought a message of encouragement and exhortation to campus with a reminder to have “gracious eyes” as we interact with the world around us.

The most famous character in all of C. S. Lewis’ “Narnia” books is Aslan the lion. He is at the center of all the stories including the first book of the series The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, an adaptation of which will take the stage for Sterling College Theatre this weekend on Friday and Saturday, February 4 and 5 at 7:30 p.m. and at 2 p.m. on Sunday, February 6.

Sterling College has announced its seventh president, Dr. Robert A. Veitch, has passed away. Dr. Veitch served as president at Sterling from 1983 to 1988. He passed away on Dec., 16, 2021, at UPMC Jameson Hospital in New Castle, Pa.
“We are saddened to hear of Dr. Veitch’s passing. Dr. Veitch lived a life of ministry and he will be remembered as a president who modeled servant leadership in his time at Sterling College,” said Dr. Scott Rich, president.
