After a seven-week hiatus from competition, the SC Debate and Forensics Team returned to action at the Gorlok Gala hosted by Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri, and did not disappoint. Sterling College started the second semester by winning the Gala, the largest regular season tournament in the nation.
Poet and novelist Shann Ray will visit Sterling College on Friday, Feb. 19, to share selected pieces from his works with students and guests.

Poet and novelist Shann Ray will visit Sterling College on Friday, Feb. 19, to share selected pieces from his works with students and guests. Ray’s fiction and poetry reading will be held at 7:30 p.m. in Cornerstone in the Student Union.

Kansas Supreme Court Justice Caleb Stegall will give a presentation to Sterling College students, employees and guests on Tuesday, Feb. 23, at 7 p.m. He will discuss recent developments in criminal law. The public is invited to attend this event, which will take place in Heritage Hall on the third floor of Cooper Hall on the Sterling College campus.

Sterling College will welcome Dr. Hence Parson as the speaker for the annual Peacemakers Convocation. Parson is an award-winning leader in the Hutchinson community and retired faculty member for Hutchinson Community College. His address, “Understanding Cultures,” will take place on Friday, Feb. 19, at 10 a.m. in Culbertson Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public.

Dark matter may not be a common topic of discussion in Sterling, Kansas, but an event held at Sterling College will offer students and community members the rare chance to learn all about it.
