Caleb Gaeddert of Hutchinson, Kansas, and Sean Johnson of Littleton, Colorado, have been selected as Sterling College’s spring 2016 Teachers of Promise. Each semester, two candidates who will be clinical teaching during the following year are recognized by Sterling College and the Kansas State Department of Education for their exemplary character, dedication and achievement. Gaeddert is an elementary education major, and Johnson is majoring in history education.
Students from schools across the state will gather at Sterling College to take part in the Phi Beta Lambda Spring State Leadership Conference.

On Friday and Saturday, March 4-5, students from schools across the state will gather at Sterling College to take part in the Phi Beta Lambda Spring State Leadership Conference. Phi Beta Lambda is the collegiate subdivision of Future Business Leaders of America, and Sterling College has been a member of this organization since 2011.
Music, drama, politics and love are not typically related to the game of chess, but all of these elements will come together on the stage during Sterling College’s spring musical.

Music, drama, politics and love are not typically related to the game of chess, but all of these elements will come together on the stage during Sterling College’s spring musical. In “Chess,” American and Russian grand masters face off at an international championship where a behind-the-scenes love triangle and political battle is taking place. Audiences can catch the “game” in Culbertson Auditorium March 3-5 at 8 p.m.
Sterling College started the second semester by winning the Gala, the largest regular season tournament in the nation.

After a seven-week hiatus from competition, the SC Debate and Forensics Team returned to action at the Gorlok Gala hosted by Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri, and did not disappoint. Sterling College started the second semester by winning the Gala, the largest regular season tournament in the nation.

Kansas Supreme Court Justice Caleb Stegall will give a presentation to Sterling College students, employees and guests on Tuesday, Feb. 23, at 7 p.m. He will discuss recent developments in criminal law. The public is invited to attend this event, which will take place in Heritage Hall on the third floor of Cooper Hall on the Sterling College campus.

Sterling College will welcome Dr. Hence Parson as the speaker for the annual Peacemakers Convocation. Parson is an award-winning leader in the Hutchinson community and retired faculty member for Hutchinson Community College. His address, “Understanding Cultures,” will take place on Friday, Feb. 19, at 10 a.m. in Culbertson Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public.

Audience members can experience part of the magical world of Disney on Jan. 29-30, as Sterling College students perform “Words and Music...from the World of Disney” as a final showcase for their interterm course, Words and Music.
