Sterling resident John Wilkey ’67 was awarded the Sterling College Distinguished Service Award on Friday, Oct. 6, 2017, for his continual dedication to the College and his lifetime of service to the community. Presented at the Alumni Banquet and Award Ceremony, Wilkey was celebrated along with Alumni Award winner Gary White ’72 and Dr. Drew Miller ’02.

Dr. Drew Miller ’02 was awarded the Sterling College Young Alumni Award on Oct. 6, 2017, for his for demonstrated excellence in his career, service to others and loyalty to Sterling College. Sterling College will host poet Janine Joseph on Thursday, Oct. 12, 2017, at 4 p.m. in Cornerstone in the Student Union. Joseph will read selections of her work and sign books after the reading. Books will be for sale at the event and in the Sterling College Bookstore. The free event is open to the public.
The exhibit will feature approximately 35 prints from the National Library of Congress’ collection

"Dust to Dust: A photographic retrospective of the Dust Bowl" will open Thursday, Oct. 5, 2017, with a reception from 5-7 p.m. in the gallery of the Art and Media Center. The exhibit will feature approximately 35 prints from the National Library of Congress’ collection, along with reprinted photographs from the families of Sterling College professors Tom Bronleewe and Dr. Jonathan Conard, and articles from Sterling’s newspaper, “The Bulletin.”
The conference begins at 6 p.m. in Heritage Hall in Cooper Hall with keynote speaker Dr. Hank Lederle, former faculty member at Sterling College

The Sterling College Department of Theology and Ministry announced its new conference, “Semper Reformanda: Always Being Reformed,” to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation taking place on Tuesday, Oct. 10. The conference begins at 6 p.m. in Heritage Hall in Cooper Hall with keynote speaker Dr. Hank Lederle, former faculty member at Sterling College. The public is invited to attend this free event.
The musical, directed by Assistant Professor of Music Mark Clark, will begin at 8 p.m. Thursday-Saturday, with a matinee at 2 p.m. on Sunday

The story of a princess and her uncomfortable night’s sleep will have audience members laughing as they enjoy the musical comedy “Once Upon a Mattress” at Sterling College Oct. 5-8, 2017. With Prince Dauntless wanting to marry a princess, but his queen mother making things difficult by constructing unreasonable tests for the princesses, it will take an unusual princess to fit the task. Luckily, Princess Winnifred is an unusual princess. The musical, directed by Assistant Professor of Music Mark Clark, will begin at 8 p.m. Thursday-Saturday, with a matinee at 2 p.m. on Sunday.

Breaking new ground once again for the Sterling College Debate Team, seniors Gage Brookman and Bryce Harner were selected to participate in a national round robin debate tournament at Western Kentucky University. The Alexis Elliott Memorial Round Robin for Lincoln Douglas Debate invited 12 students and will be held on Sept. 22-24.
