The Sterling College Department of Theology and Ministry announced its new conference, “Semper Reformanda: Always Being Reformed,” to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation taking place on Tuesday, Oct. 10. The conference begins at 6 p.m. in Heritage Hall in Cooper Hall with keynote speaker Dr. Hank Lederle, former faculty member at Sterling College. The public is invited to attend this free event.

“Many Christians value the heritage of the Reformation, but few know the specifics of the Reformation in any detail, and most are unaware of certain ways that contemporary Christianity is drifting from its reformation heritage. We hope that this conference can foster important discussions on the legacy of the Reformation as we commemorate 500 years of Reform,” said Dr. Glenn Butner, assistant professor of theology and ministry.

The conference will feature former Sterling College faculty member Dr. Hank Lederle as the keynote speaker. It will highlight the theological legacy of the Reformation to help raise student and public awareness of important ideas that they may know, worship, and serve God better. Current Sterling College faculty members will present three papers that consider how Reformation theology persists in the modern church.

Sterling’s Undergraduate Humanities Conference hosted in the spring will include papers on a wider range of topics relating to the Reformation as well as to the notion of reform in general.
