Alumni Relations

Position Overview:
The Sterling College Art & Design Department is seeking a motivated and creative student worker to assist with various tasks and projects within the department. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about the arts and design to gain valuable hands-on experience while contributing to the dynamic environment of the department. The student worker will support the department's faculty, staff, and students in day-to-day operations and special initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Material Preparation: Assist instructors in preparing materials and supplies for classes, workshops, and projects. This may involve organizing art supplies, setting up studio spaces, and ensuring all necessary resources are readily available. Help maintain and organize department resources, materials, and supplies.
- Event Assistance: Collaborate with department staff to plan, coordinate, and execute events, workshops, exhibitions, and lectures. Help with event logistics, set up and tear down, promotional materials, and guest coordination.
- Studio Maintenance: Help maintain the cleanliness and organization of art studios, workshops, and creative spaces. Ensure that art supplies and equipment are well-stocked and properly stored.
- Digital Media and Graphic Design: Assist in the creation of digital content, graphics, and promotional materials for departmental events, exhibitions, and social media platforms. Basic proficiency in graphic design software is a plus.
- Gallery Support: Help with the setup and takedown of art exhibitions, ensuring that artwork is displayed professionally and according to guidelines. Provide information to visitors and assist with gallery-related tasks.
- Photography and Documentation: Capture high-quality images of student artwork, events, and exhibitions for promotional and archival purposes. Basic photography skills are desirable.
- Assistance to Faculty: Provide support to faculty members, including photocopying materials, assembling course packets, and assisting with research projects.
- Creative Projects: Collaborate with the department on creative projects, such as designing posters, flyers, and promotional materials for departmental events and activities.
Qualifications:
- Enrolled as a student in the Sterling College Art & Design Department.
- Strong passion for art and design with a basic understanding of artistic techniques and processes.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic proficiency in computer software, including Microsoft Office and Adobe Software.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team.
- Reliability and punctuality in meeting deadlines and commitments.
- Previous experience in event planning, graphic design, studio work, or related fields.
- Lifting, moving, assembling studio furniture. Climbing ladders, painting, spackling, and sanding.
