Christy Morrison

Christy Morrison, Assistant Professor of Accounting, brings more than 20 years of experience in both public and industry accounting to the classroom.  She has provided accounting and tax services to individual and small business clients through her work at various CPA and tax prep firms across Kansas and Oklahoma, and currently owns her own practice, Morrison Tax & Accounting, in Lyons, Kansas.  Professor Morrison has also worked in financial accounting for companies such as SemGroup, Auto Crane, Ramsey Winch, and American Airlines where she has done everything from inventory and trend analysis to bank reconciliations and preparing reports for the court during bankruptcy.  She has also combined her talents with those of her co-workers to develop and implement a new inventory system as well as financial reporting policies and procedures which resulted in stronger controls within the accounting system.
Mrs. Morrison enjoys spending time with her four children, her in-law children, and her nine grandchildren.  She also enjoys reading and gardening.  Mrs. Morrison is a member of Lyons First United Methodist Church where she serves in youth ministry, womens ministry, and lay speaking as well as participating in bell choir, vocal choir, and Seekers Sunday School class.

Bachelor of Business Administration (Accounting) from Wichita State University, Wichita, Kansas
Master of Science Accounting from Western Governors University, Salt Lake City, Utah
Juris Doctorate from Mitchell Hamline School of Law, Minneapolis, Minnesota
Mrs. Morrison also holds a Law and Business Certificate from Mitchell Hamline School of Law and is currently licensed as an enrolled agent with the Internal Revenue Service which allows her to represent taxpayers in any issues relating to collections, audits, or tax appeals.
