Kansas City, Mo. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced the 2011 NAIA Baseball All-Americans, as selected by the NAIA-Baseball Coaches Association (BCA) All-America Selection Committee. Seventeen players were selected to each the First and Second Teams, while 36 other players were honorable mentions. Sterling College’s Andrew Archbold was named a Second Team All-American while Wesley Tramble was named an Honorable Mention All-American.
Sterling, Kan. – Sterling College Athletic Director Gary Kempf announced today the hiring of Jeff Kidd (Sterling College ’05) as Head Men’s Soccer Coach for the Warriors.
Sterling, Kan. – Sterling College Women’s Basketball Coach Kruse has been named the 2011 Kansas Basketball Coaches Association (KBCA) Four Year College Women’s Coach of the Year. Kruse will be honored in front of the KBCA reception on August 4th at Washburn University during the KBCA All-Star Game Festivities.
The Sterling College Missions Department is sending nearly 100 students and employees out on overseas mission trips this summer. Countries that will be visited this year include: East Asia, Nepal, Philippines, Ukraine, India (two trips), Ghana, Guatemala, St. Lucia and Fiji.
Sterling College recently recognized 87 students for their accomplishments for the 2010-2011 academic school year. These students were presented with their honors at the annual Honor’s Convocation held on April 29. Listed are the students who received awards and scholarships:

Sterling College’s Symphonic Band is turning up the volume and bringing down the house with Confusical Popcert #26: Legends of Rock, set for Sunday, April 27, at 3 p.m. in Culbertson Auditorium. The high-voltage concert is free and open to the public and promises to be a thrilling tribute to the icons of rock music—from Elvis to Queen, The Beatles to Bon Jovi.
Why Legends of Rock? “Why not?” says Director Larry Brownlee with a grin. “The music is energetic, exciting, and just plain fun to listen to. And it’s a great way to close out the school year.”

The stage lights burned bright at Sterling College on Monday, April 14, as nearly 200 high school students from across Kansas packed into Culbertson Auditorium for a day that blended fierce vocal competition with side-splitting musical theatre. The college hosted its first-ever Musical Theatre Singing Contest, followed by a crowd-pleasing matinee performance of Urinetown: The Musical—a hilarious, high-energy satire that had students laughing, cheering, and leaping to their feet at curtain call.
