Sterling College Board of Trustees member Joe Lang ’66 of Wichita, Kansas, passed away Nov. 5. Lang leaves behind a legacy of servant leadership with his family, his church, and Sterling College.
“Joe will be deeply missed. He was a true servant leader, who was passionate about education and who loved and served his Alma Mater with distinction,” said President Scott Rich.

Sterling College was well-represented at the 2015 Central Plains Society of Mammalogists meeting, hosted by Northwest Missouri State University at Mozingo Lake Recreational Area in Maryville, Missouri, on Oct. 9-10. Alumni Amanda Buckwalter ’15 and Rachel Grafel ’15 joined senior Hannah Kelley and Associate Professor of Biology Dr. Jonathan Conard, in presenting research to students and faculty from schools in Kansas, Nebraska, Missouri, Iowa, Oklahoma and Arkansas.
On Friday, Nov. 6, Rod Learned will visit Sterling College to speak at the annual Oscar Schmidt Lecture Series convocation.

On Friday, Nov. 6, Rod Learned will visit Sterling College to speak at the annual Oscar Schmidt Lecture Series convocation. Learned has worked for Koch Industries since 1998, serving as the first-ever director of internal communication for the company. He now manages the corporate archive and serves as the company’s historian. The event, which is free and open to the public, will take place at 10 a.m. in Culbertson Auditorium in Spencer Hall on the Sterling College campus.
Dr. Wai-Foong Hong taught an undergraduate course in the department of molecular biotechnology at Da-Yeh University in Taiwan.

Dr. Wai-Foong Hong, associate professor of biology at Sterling College, had the unique experience of teaching an undergraduate course in the department of molecular biotechnology at Da-Yeh University in Taiwan. For two intensive weeks in July, Dr. Hong co-taught a condensed version of the course “Eukaryotic Biotechnology II” with Da-Yeh University’s Dr. Vida Chiang.
The Sterling College Debate and Forensics Team has added quite a few trophies to their display case.

The Sterling College Debate and Forensics Team has added quite a few trophies to their display case. Having participated in the Ocho Debate Tournament, the Missouri Mule, and the Sunflower Swing, the team has taken first place in overall team sweepstakes and has earned over a dozen individual and team awards.
