The show must go on. Despite school cancellations and weather delays, nine schools attended Sterling College’s Theatre Workshop Day on March 3. Over 100 students participated in the day that included morning workshops and a matinee performance of “The Glass Menagerie.”

Students were given the opportunity to learn about acting, audition monologues, dance for the stage, forensics, taking head shots, improvisation, musical theatre singing, scenic painting, stage combat and sword fighting, stage lighting, stage makeup, and costuming.

“Hosting a theatre workshop helps reach out to prospective students by exposing them to the Sterling College theatre department while learning more about theatre in general. It’s a fun way to teach visiting students and show off the department,” said Kacie Hastings, admissions counselor.

The schools in attendance were Burrton High School of Burrton Kan.; Cunningham High School of Cunningham, Kan.; Holcomb High School of Holcomb, Kan.; Liberal High School of Liberal, Kan.; McPherson High School of McPherson, Kan.; Moundridge High School of Moundridge, Kan.; St. John’s Lutheran School of Beloit, Kan.; Sterling High School of Sterling, Kan.; and Trinity Catholic High School of Hutchinson, Kan.
