Not only does the 2013 Sterling College Homecoming feature all of the traditional events of Homecomings in years past, but this year's Homecoming has a special event: the inauguration of Scott Rich, Sterling College's 12th president. The inauguration ceremony will take place on Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., in Culbertson Auditorium located in Spencer Hall.

Homecoming events will begin Thursday, Oct. 17, with the annual homecoming musical. This year’s musical is “South Pacific,” written by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II, and directed by Assistant Professor of Theatre Arts Matthew Winning. “South Pacific” will be performed at 8 p.m. in Culbertson Auditorium from Thursday through Saturday, Oct. 17-19.

On Friday, the Alumni College will allow for past Sterling College students to visit current classes to experience how College has changed since they graduated. A special class, “Sociology through the eyes of Sterling College history,” will be taught at 2:10 p.m. by Faculty Emeritus Dr. Arn Froese. Registration for the Alumni College can be found on the Sterling College website.

Other activities on Friday include class reunions for the classes of ’63, ’70s decade, ’83, ’88, ’93 and ’03, the men’s and women's soccer teams playing against Ottawa University at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., and the volleyball team will go head-to-head with Friends University at 7 p.m. in the Gleason Center. 

Saturday's activities include the Lady Warriors pancake breakfast, parade, Homecoming Hangout, campus tours, cookout, football game against Ottawa University, young alumni reunion and the alumni banquet. The young alumni reunion will take place under the alumni tent on the south side of Smisor Stadium during the football game. Alumni from the classes of ’98-’13 are encouraged to stop by and register for prizes.
