Lady Warriors Full of Heart
Sterling, Kan. - The Lady Warriors of Sterling College battled the Bethel College Threshers but came up short on Tuesday night. The final set score does not show how close the match really was as the Lady Warriors lost one set to three.
After dropping the first two sets 16-25 and 17-25, the Lady Warriors looked like a totally different team. In comeback fashion, the Lady Warriors won the third set 26-24 and set up a fourth set for the ages. In the fourth set, Sterling would have its back against the fall on numerous occasions. While facing match point many times, the Lady Warriors held their ground and continued to extend the match. Finally, Bethel was able to kill two in a row to defeat the Lady Warriors 33-35.
The sophomore duo of Sara Steria and Adriana Gonzalez came up big again for the Lady Warriors. Steria had 19 kills in the match while Gonzalez had 35 assists. Junior Iris Romero played in her first game of the season and gave the Lady Warriors an emotional boost as libero. Romero led the Lady Warriors in digs with 15.
With the loss, the Lady Warriors move to 5-15 on the season, 2-6 in the KCAC.
Sterling will play again on Friday on the road against Oklahoma Wesleyan. Game time is at 3:00.
