Gasper Shines as Sterling Loses to Northwestern
Sioux City, Iowa - Britany Gasper starred in her final game as a Sterling College Lady Warrior, scoring 29 points in the 103-66 loss to top seeded Northwestern College (Iowa). Northwestern was on fire from the field in the game, shooting 0.576 from the field and 0.545 from the three point line. Northwestern's player of the year candidate Becca Hurley scored 13 points in the first half with three of six shooting from behind the arc. The Red Raiders shot an amazing nine for 18 from behind the arc and put up an astounding 60 points in the first half.
Sterling was unable to counter the early Northwestern run and struggled to get multiple players going offensively. Gasper dominated Sterling's scoring in the first half with 17 points. Lucas was the Lady Warriors' second leading scorer with six points. However, Sterling was only able to score 29 points in the first half.
The Lady Warriors looked better in the second half, holding Northwestern to 43 points and scoring 37 points. However, Sterling was unable to challenge in the game. When the final horn sounded, Sterling's season was over after a 103-66 loss.
Gasper led all scorers with 29 points. Also in double figure scoring for Sterling was Herman with 14 and Lucas with `12.
Hurley led Northwestern with 18 points. Kami Kulmann scored 17 points, Kendra De Jong scored 15 points, and Val Kleinjan scored 12 points.
Sterling finishes the season with a 27-6 record.
