Sterling College announces Don Reed ’68 as its commencement speaker
Don Reed ’68, current Board of Trustees member and CEO of Last Act of Stewardship Services, will be the speaker for the 2023 Sterling College Commencement ceremony. The ceremony will honor the Class of 2023 and will take place on Saturday, May 6, at 9:45 a.m. in the Gleason Physical Education Center on the Sterling College campus.
“It is an honor for me to represent the College and the Board of Trustees in honoring our graduates of 2023. We send out this talented class as a wonderful representative of Sterling College and applaud their achievements of their college education. Completing a college-level education is an enormous accomplishment and I trust that I can send them out to the places and works that God has for them with one last meaningful challenge,” said Reed.
Reed served Sterling College for 38 years in a variety of roles including development, marketing and public relations. Reed led the Cooper Campaign to renovate Cooper Hall and oversaw institutional and athletic fundraising. In 2009, he was awarded the highest alumni award, the Distinguished Service Award, for his lifetime of professional success and servant leadership.
Before working at Sterling College, Reed served in the United States Navy and served as a teacher at Lyons High School. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Sterling College in Psychology. Reed and his wife, Linda, have three children: Shawn, Kyle and Kim.
Reed also has served his denomination, the Reformed Presbyterian Church of North America, on numerous national boards.
