Henry Thompson to speak at Sterling College for Peacemakers Convocation
Sterling College will host its Spiritual Emphasis Week on February 5-7, 2020, culminating with the College’s sixth annual Peacemakers Convocation at 10 a.m. on Friday, February 7. The convocation will feature Henry Thompson as the featured speaker. Thompson is an associate pastor at Christ Community Church in Kansas City. The public is invited to attend the event, which is held in Culbertson Auditorium.
“Henry is one of my closest friends and it is a joy to host him for Spiritual Emphasis Week and the Peacemakers Convocation. He is a gifted pastor, leader, and speaker, and I know he will enrich and edify our community,” said Paul Brandes ’11, chaplain.
Thompson “has a passion for communicating God’s Word and wants to see the lives of others transformed through the gospel of Jesus Christ in Kansas City.” He currently resides in the Westport neighborhood of Kansas City.
The schedule for the College’s Spiritual Emphasis Week begins with chapel on Wednesday, Feb. 5 at 10 a.m. in Culbertson Auditorium. Thursday will feature another event for students with details yet to be determined. The week will conclude with the Peacemaker’s Convocation on Friday, Feb. 7 at 10 a.m. in Culbertson Auditorium.
Sterling College’s Peacemakers Convocation seeks to bring in speakers who are working on behalf of the voiceless and oppressed. The convocation has featured past speakers including Dr. Kneeland Brown, Marvin Daniels, Christen Price and Dr. Hence Parson.
