The Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE) requires institutions to publish data yearly on eight annual measures. The data demonstrates the quality of the provider’s programs and graduates to potential students, employers and media. KSDE examines the provider’s PreK-12 student learning impact, teacher effectiveness, employer satisfaction and completer satisfaction.

 

1. Impact on PreK-12 learning and development
The EPP will begin to develop a case study plan to collect and analyze data from graduates’ classrooms to meet this expectation. This work will begin during the 2019-2020 academic year.

 

2. Indicators on teaching effectiveness
Sterling College’s EPP collects data through alumni surveys. The survey tracks the program’s ability to prepare candidates for the field and their ability to demonstrate effective teaching methods.

3. Satisfaction of employers and employment milestones
Sterling College’s EPP collects data through employer surveys through the alumni survey. The employer survey tracks employer perceptions regarding the readiness of our graduates to perform effectively in the classroom.

4. Satisfaction of completers
Sterling College’s EPP collects data through alumni surveys. The surveys track the satisfaction of our completers in regards to various aspects of our program.

5. Graduation rates
Graduation rates reflect the ability for our accepted teacher candidates with a declared education major to complete their applicable programs within four to five years.

6. Ability of completers to meet licensing (certification) and any additional state requirements
Kansas State Department of Education requires completers to pass two licensure exams. One tests completers’ content knowledge for their endorsement subject area and the other exam tests completers’ pedagogical knowledge. Per guidelines, in order for these test results to be made public at least 10 data points are required.

7. Ability of completers to be hired in education positions for which they have prepared
Graduates self-report their employment to the Sterling College EPP. The institution also receives information from KSDE regarding those employed in the state.
