Bird named vice president for advancement
Sterling College has named Sheila Bird as the College’s vice president for advancement as of June 1. Bird, who previously served as the associate vice president for advancement and director of planned giving, has worked at Sterling College since 2013. She moves into role with Scott Carter ’88 moving to the role of special assistant to the president for capital campaign and leadership giving.
“We’re thrilled to have Sheila lead our advancement team here at Sterling College. She has heart for people and she has established hundreds of trusting relationships with our alumni and friends, leading to increased giving to the College,” said Dr. Scott Rich, president.
Bird will oversee planned giving, annual fund, alumni relations, advancement database and software systems, donor development and all advancement operations. She will also serve as a member of the president’s cabinet.
“I am very excited to continue engaging friends of Sterling as they seek make a lasting impact on future generations. Helping to further the mission of developing creative and thoughtful leaders who understand a maturing Christian faith is where my heart is at. There is a great need for Christ-centered education, and the work I am doing at the College helps make that opportunity affordable to students from across the country,” said Bird.
Bird holds a bachelor of arts in Psychology from MidAmerica Nazarene University, a masters of business administration from MidAmerica Nazarene University and a masters of organizational administration from MidAmerica Nazarene University. Bird and her husband, Don, have four adult children and three grandchildren.
