The inaugural installation ceremony for Kappa Mu Epsilon, a national mathematics honor society, at Sterling College will take place on Thursday, Nov. 30, 2017, at 7 p.m. in Heritage Hall on the third floor of Cooper Hall. Kappa Mu Epsilon president Brian Hollebeck will lead the ceremony, and the public is invited to attend the event.

The Sterling College chapter, Kansas Eta, is the seventh chapter in Kansas, and the first new chapter of Kappa Mu Epsilon in Kansas in almost 20 years. Members who will be inducted include Assistant Professors of Mathematics Pete and Amy Kosek and students Tiana Bonde of Callaway, Nebraska; Laura Clark of Kansas City, Kansas; Lucas Garrett of Salina, Kansas; Aaron Pinkerton of Dodge City, Kansas; Shelby Stowe of Bentonville, Arkansas; Jenna Weimer of Fresno, California; Mikaela Wells of Haven, Kansas; and Zachary Williams of St. Louis, Missouri.

Hollenbeck, professor of mathematics at Emporia State University, will give a short talk on mathematics as part of the ceremony.

Kappa Mu Epsilon will be the third honor society for Sterling College. Alpha Chi, the honor society for general academics began in 1965, and Phi Beta Lambda, the honor society under Future Business Leaders of America, began in 2011.
