Sterling College’s Phi Beta Lambda hosts etiquette dinner

Monday, January 23, 2017

The tension and stress that accompany one’s first business lunch will not be a problem for the Sterling College business students who attended the Phi Beta Lambda business club’s etiquette dinner.  The dinner was led by volunteers Teresa Lang and Jodi Besthorn, who prepared students for the etiquette required in formal or business settings.

“The Sterling College PBL chapter was very excited to be able to sponsor an etiquette dinner for a second year in a row. This year’s success was due to the great efforts of our business students involved with PBL. They did a great job planning and organizing the event. We hope to be able to continue this new tradition in the coming years,” said Timothy Thorpe, assistant professor of business.

In total, 22 students attended the event, which was catered by Chartwells Dining Services.

“I was very pleased with how the event went. I learned a lot of valuable tips about proper etiquette for fine dining. I feel more confident that I am well-prepared for the next time I am invited to a formal dinner. It seems everyone learned a lot of new things at our event,” said junior Elizabeth Herrington, vice president of the Sterling College’s PBL chapter.
