Sterling College has announced that entries are open for the second Great Plains Annual Photography Competition, a juried show for high school students. Any student in grades 9-12 may submit pieces to the photography competition, which offers scholarships and prizes for the winning photographs, including a new DSLR camera to the winner. The deadline for submissions is Feb. 1.

“Sterling College Art and Design is always looking for ways to encourage young artists to create without fear, and photography is such a great, flexible medium that really lends itself to creating with confidence. We were very happy with the amount of entries and the quality of the submissions last year. This Second Great Plains Annual Photography Competition is a great chance for regional high school students to submit work into a low-cost juried show and have the opportunity to be recognized for the strong photography work they are generating. We are looking forward to adjudicating the wide variety of pieces students will produce,” said Daniel Swartz, assistant professor of art and design.
