Sterling College professor’s work selected for Pastel National Exhibition
Expanding his national presence, David Stenulson, assistant professor of art and design, was chosen for the Pastel National Exhibition at the Wichita Center for the Arts. Stenulson’s piece, titled “Jam,” will be on display April 1-May 8, 2016. An opening reception for the exhibition will be held on April 1 at 5 p.m.
“It is always exciting to share about the success of faculty members here at Sterling College. Not only is David a great professor and mentor for his students, he is also an artist who is very dedicated to his craft. I am happy his talent is being recognized at this exhibition,” said Ken Brown, vice president for academic affairs.
Stenulson’s painting is one of 75 works from the nation’s leading pastelists to be displayed at the Pastel National Exhibition.
“My pastel in this show is a psychological interpretation of some of my experiences in Kentucky. It’s an honor to be selected for this exhibition. I look forward to seeing all of the stellar work at the reception,” said Stenulson.
The Pastel National Exhibition is adjudicated by pastelist Liz Haywood-Sullivan, president of the International Association of Pastel Societies and author of “Painting Brilliant Skies and Water in Pastel.” She is recognized both nationally and internationally for her work in pastels.
