Sterling College Theatre presents “Chess”
Music, drama, politics and love are not typically related to the game of chess, but all of these elements will come together on the stage during Sterling College’s spring musical. In “Chess,” American and Russian grand masters face off at an international championship where a behind-the-scenes love triangle and political battle is taking place. Audiences can catch the “game” in Culbertson Auditorium March 3-5 at 8 p.m.
“The students have been working very hard on all aspects of the show since the end of January. It’s been exciting to see it all come together now as we approach opening night. I’m so very proud of this cast. They are absolutely wonderful and deserve a full house every night,” said director Mark Clark, assistant professor of music.
The box office opens at 7 p.m. on show nights with doors opening at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for adults are $10, and tickets for students, children and seniors are $5.
The cast of “Chess” includes: Elijah Klein of Valley Center, Kansas, as Freddie; Jordan Himes of Eureka, Kansas, as Florence; Micah Black of McPherson, Kansas, as Anatoly; Cody Meins of Canon City, Colorado, as Molokov; Micah Watney of Sterling, Kansas, as Walter; Bobby Foster of Sterling, Kansas, as Arbiter; Cassidy Woodard of Abilene, Kansas, as Svetlana; and Andrew Stansbury of Lorraine, Kansas, as Gregor, Father, and Nicolai.
