Students bring Disney to Sterling College

Wednesday, January 27, 2016

Audience members can experience part of the magical world of Disney on Jan. 29-30, as Sterling College students perform “Words and Music...from the World of Disney” as a final showcase for their interterm course, Words and Music. Seventeen students will be performing Disney-themed musical theatre pieces in Culbertson Auditorium at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday night.

“The students have had a great time working on the Disney music. It’s tapped into some of their childhood memories. They are looking forward to their performances and hope they can fill Culbertson Auditorium with both the young and young at heart,” said Mark Clark, assistant professor of music.

In the course Words and Music, students learn about selected composers or lyricists, prepare songs from the composers’ or lyricists’ musicals, and perform the pieces at an event held the first weekend of the spring semester.

“Words and Music...from the World of Disney” is expected to last approximately one hour and 15 minutes. It is a free, family-friendly event that is open to the public.
