Sterling College students attend Global Leadership Summit

Tuesday, September 22, 2015

Last month, 10 members of the Sterling College Ministry Teams joined with over 260,000 people from around the world to participate in the Global Leadership Summit. Ministry Teams Director Jenny Bradley joined students Britt Bowman, Chris Green, Austin Mettling, Joel Morey, Micah Oelze, Justin Porter, Dara Quastad, Chyann Schneider, Lindy Smith and Summer Stanley in attending the event on Aug. 6-7, 2015.

The Global Leadership Summit is a world-class experience designed to help people get better and embrace their grander vision–the reason God called them to lead. This year’s conference was broadcast live from Willow Creek Church near Chicago to over 375 host sites, including CrossPoint Church in Hutchinson, Kansas. The attendees were given the opportunity to hear from multiple internationally known leadership experts such as Jim Collins, Adam Grant and Liz Wiseman.

Bradley is emphatic in her desire to equip her students for leadership.

“This event pairs right with our school mission statement and with developing the Ministry Teams students in their practical leadership skills. It was worth every single penny of the investment to give these students the opportunity to hear from these globally recognized presenters and to expose the students to these resources and networks,” said Bradley.

The leaders who spoke at this conference encouraged and refined the students’ desire and abilities to lead.

“It motivated me to be more intentional on maximizing the groups that are under my leadership,” said Mettling.

In fact, some of the students are already looking forward to the next Global Leadership Summit.

As Quastad put it, “I think we should go again next year because the conference itself holds more than just helpful ways to improve yourself as a leader–it is really just how to help you improve your life in general.”
