Five athletic training students to graduate as certified athletic trainers
The majority of athletic training students aspire to become certified athletic trainers upon graduation. That dream will become a reality for five Sterling College athletic training majors who passed their Board of Certification exam and are now eligible for certification upon conferral of their bachelor’s degree in athletic training. The group passed the test on their first try, yielding a 100 percent pass rate for this year’s senior class. Lori Dauer of Falun, Kansas; Alyssa Kieffer of Clifton, Kansas; Kyler King of Independence, Kansas; Emlyn Ngiratmab of Susanville, California; and Michael Utter of Peoria, Arizona, are one step closer to their goal of certified athletic trainer.
“This group of seniors has been a phenomenal group to work with. They are determined and react well to being pushed academically. Our program has been blessed by their leadership this year and the athletic training family is beyond proud of their success on the Board of Certification exam,” said Pete Manely, director of athletic training.
In addition to the seniors who took the exam, two Sterling College graduates also participated and passed the test. Josh Greenlee ’13 and Nicci (Navarro) Perez ’14 added to the five seniors making a successful day of seven Sterling College students and alumni to pass the test on the same day – a record for the Athletic Training Program’s history. Greenlee has been serving as an intern for Sterling College. Perez is a graduate assistant at Fresno Pacific University.
