Three employees were recognized for five years of service to Sterling College during the annual Kickoff Banquet on Monday, Aug. 4. Lesa Plinske, Dr. Marvin Dewey and Will Teufel completed their fifth year at Sterling over the 2013-14 academic year.

Plinske has worked as a housekeeper for the Service Department. She is in charge of the upkeep and care for Campbell Hall, Douglas Residences, Evans Hall, Wilson Hall, and the Art and Media Center.

The fall semester brings five new faculty to the campus of Sterling College - Dr. Farai Kwaramba, Jeremy Labosier, Dr. Brian Mills, Mark Tremaine and Rachel Wannamaker.

“Our new faculty members bring energy and excitement to the beginning of the academic year. They are ready to challenge their students, and I look forward to seeing the results of students benefiting from their instruction,” said Dr. Gregory P. Kerr, vice president for academic affairs.

Luke Cureton ’03 is returning to Sterling College’s Office of Institutional Advancement as the director of development for annual programs.

“I’m thrilled to welcome Luke to the team. His 21-year affiliation with Sterling will prove beneficial to building relationships with alumni and friends that will lead to increased giving,” said Scott Carter, vice president for institutional advancement and external relations.

An anonymous donor has significantly influenced future Sterling College students by giving $150,000 to the endowed scholarship fund for future scholarships.

“These friends strongly believe in the College and its importance to the Sterling community. They feel blessed by God and wanted to bless the College and keep it strong. The funds will go into the general scholarship endowment, thereby helping provide funds for student scholarships in the future,” said Dr. Marvin Dewey, associate vice president for leadership giving and special projects.
