Warriors Battle, Unable to Overcome McPherson
Sterling, Kan. - The Sterling College Lady Warrior Volleyball Team lost tonight against McPherson College in a game that was closer than the final score. McPherson won the match three sets to one in a match that featured a lot of Warrior heart and determination to come from behind.
Sara Steria had another big night statistically for the Lady Warriors with 15 kills on the evening. Brooke Denton gave SC timely kills and had a bigger impact on the game than her statistics show. Denton had eight kills in the match. Gelisa Thornton patrolled the net all night for Sterling, ending the game with seven blocks and eight kills. Adriana Gonzalez orchestrated the Warrior attack and had 40 assists in the match.
After dropping the first set 25-15, Sterling battled in the second set and won set number two by a score of 32-30. Sterling was forced to battle from behind in both the third and fourth set and was unable to overcome their early deficits. McPherson won the third set 25-20 and the fourth set 25-23.
The loss drops SC to 9-18 on the season, 5-9 in the KCAC. Sterling's next game will be on Saturday when the Lady Warriors host the Bethany Swedes at 2:00 pm in the Gleason Center.
