Sterling College named 225 students to their Fall Dean's List. Criteria for the Dean's List include the completion of at least twelve graded credit hours and a semester GPA of 3.5 or better. Sterling College Online students must have completed at least ten credit hours.
Sterling College is pleased to announce the hiring of K.C. Bassett as its new financial aid assistant. She began on December 1. In her new role, K.C. is responsible for assisting with the processing of financial aid applications. She also manages the electronic transmitting of FAFSA data and loan disbursements.
The Sterling College Music Department will present their 3rd annual Musical Theatre Cabaret, Pure Imagination, Friday, January 28th and Saturday, January 29th. The cabaret begins at 7:30 pm and will be performed in Upper Wilson Hall on the SC campus.
Among the usual general education courses offered, Sterling College's interterm session had one notably, yet unusual, class offered this year. From January 4 - 20, 2011, twelve students "went to the movies" by through a course called "B-Movies." The course, taught by Assistant Professor of Mathematics Daniel Callahan, involved screening movies that held topics such as the atomic age, atom bombs and missiles and the threat of imminent nuclear holocaust.
Kansas City, Mo. - Sterling College has been named a Five Star Champions of Character Institution by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) for the 2009-2010 school year. A Five Star Champions of Character Institution shows commitment in athletics to the five key areas of character training, conduct in competition, academic focus, character recognition, and character promotion. These five areas measure the Institutions commitment to the Champions of Character core values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.
Sterling College Athletic Director and Head Football Coach Andy Lambert announced today that offensive coordinator Brian Fish has accepted a head coaching position at his alma mater, Olivet Nazarene University. Fish has been the offensive coordinator for Sterling College for the last five years.
While most Sterling College students went home after finals to spend their Christmas as usual, 12 SC students along with nine faculty and staff are getting ready to fly to St. Lucia, an island in the Caribbean for a Sterling College mission trip. While there, the team will get a chance to help build houses, play with children and teach seminars on worship, leadership and biblical teaching.

In 1946, the president of Westminster College sent an invitation to Winston Churchill via Harry Truman, asking him to make an appearance in Fulton, MO. Churchill not only accepted the invitation, but travelling by train along with President Harry Truman, he rode a train across the United States to reach the College. It was at that time and at that location that Churchill delivered perhaps his greatest oration, the "Iron Curtain" speech. The SC Debate team recreated the same trek, albeit by automobile, in accepting an invitation to appear and compete in a debate tournament to honor the legacy of Winston Churchill and his historic address 64 years ago.
The Sterling College Art & Design Department will be hosting a comic book workshop on Friday, November 12th from 3-4pm at the Art and Design building on the Sterling College campus. Jesse Mendoza will be the guest speaker.
